Brum and the Surprise Party (titled Brum and the Street Party in Australia) is the ninth episode of the second series of Brum.

Plot[]

Brum sees three girls with some presents at the crossing who are going to a party. On their way, they unknowingly drop one of the presents while passing Rob the Road Sweeper, who picks it up and puts in Brum's seat. When Brum returns the present, the children invite him to the party, but he is feeling too bad for Rob always having to work and decides to help him. The two come to a very messy street and Rob's broom breaks in the middle of sweeping, adding to his misery. Wanting to cheer him up, Brum decides to throw him a surprise party. He returns to the children and tells them his plan, so they load his seats with party supplies. Brum and the children go around the big town telling others about the party, who all agree to help. They soon arrive where Rob is and get ready for the party, being careful not to spoil the surprise. Rob eventually notices some balloons, at which Brum and the children jump out and surprise him, starting the party. Rob is presented with a cake and blows out the candles, but the biggest surprise is yet to come when Brum shows up with a large present: a sweeping machine. Everyone thanks Brum for coming up with the party, after which he goes to return to the museum. The museum owner finds a party hat in Brum's seat and places it on a miniature figure.
